Richard Browdy has been a member of the South Florida community for almost 35 years. Richard graduated from Florida International University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Taxation. Additionally, he is a graduate of Long Island University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Richard was born and raised in New York and moved to Florida in 1979 with his expanding family. His career started when he was in college at the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority, where he was able to practice the skills he learned in the classroom at work on a daily basis. To earn your CPA designation in New York, unlike Florida, you need a certain number of hours performing financial statement audits, so upon graduation, Richard went to work in the Manhattan office of a national accounting firm. From there, Richard continued to expand his skill set by working in other national accounting firms, now part of the “Big 4,” where he worked in the Executive Office, promulgating national standards, procedures, and policies for firm-wide practices.
After Richard and his family moved to South Florida, Richard continued to work for national accounting firms in the region. However, Richard felt he could better serve clients by providing them with more intimate, personal service by starting his own firm. In 1991, Richard J. Browdy, C.P.A. opened with the sole goal of providing quality service to clients.
Richard Browdy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (past member of the Board of Directors of South Dade Chapter), and the South Dade Estate Planning Council (Past President).
